" This declared the Minister of agricultural food and forestry policies the 1st of October at the start of operations of the SIB, the computerized system for organic farms.

"The organic sector is showing vitality, consumers appreciate it more and more and its companies are more and more rooted in the territory. For this reason we are committed to improving the guarantee system that is the basis of the development of the sector. The Organic Information System we have created and made operational, using SIAN’s structure, will allow us to go in the direction of increasing transparency, improve the efficiency of the control system for organic farming and reduce red tape for operators. "The development of the IT application and the definition of its norms - the Minister continued- have been an important work done by the Administration, with which it was decided to launch a major reorganization of the sector, starting from the standardization and sharing of data between all those involved in the management of the organic farming system. "
The system, which integrates the functionality of SIAN (National Agricultural Information System) by also the certified databases, offers the possibility to agri-businesses to start the administrative route for the recognition of the status of organic producer. Thanks to this new system, in fact, all the information already contained in the SIAN business file no longer have to be transcribed again and sent to various government and relevant bodies, but they will all be contained in the new "notification on line" that will automatically make it available to all users of the system. The IT project has other passages: shortly we will in fact develop at the national level the integration of information systems that some regions have independently developed on organic.
